Original Album Plus Bonus Track!
One of Lady Day's finest concert recordings of the '50s, Ladylove was recorded live on Billie Holiday's "Jazz Club U.S.A." Tour on February 4, 1954 in Basel, Switzerland. Side-A's eight tracks find her working in a quartet with Carl Drinkard (piano), Red Mitchell (bass) and Elaine Leighton (drums) while the first two cuts from Side-B showcase support from a larger band featuring the likes of Buddy DeFranco (clarinet), Jimmy Raney (guitar), Sonny Clark/Beryl Booker (piano) and Red Norvo (vibes). This Vinyl Passion reissue also includes the rare bonus track "He's Funny That Way" recorded with the aforementioned quartet in Brussels, Belgium on January 24, 1954.
